Changing day-time sleep as baby grows older

Inlägg av Mami »

Hello :D

Emma, now 5.5 months old, has the following schedule:

6.30 food
8.00-9.30 sleep 1.5 hours
9.30 food
11.00-12.30 sleep 1.5 hours
12.30 food
14.30-14.50 sleep 20 minutes
15.30 food
16.50-17.10 sleep 20 minutes
18.00 food
19.00 night-time sleep 11.5 hours

The question is, as she grows older how should I change / reduce the day-time sleep? Does either of 20 minutes sleeps disappear totally (how would I then avoid her getting too tired) or should I reduce the first sleep to get some nap-time in the afternoon?

She has baby-swim at 18.00 so it is very handy that she has that 20 minutes sleep at 16.50 in the car so she is spry at swimming.

I would need the information for all the changes, I mean as she turns 7 months, 9 months and 1 year.

Thank you for tips in advance!!!! :D

Hi,

This is the schedule I've had for Tor. Sorry I can't supply you with older than 7-8 months. but I'll give you the link to some more schedules even if they are in swedish you could perhaps find something there...

http://www.annawahlgren.com/forum/viewt ... c&start=45

5-6 months (15 hours sleep)

Natt 19-07
8.45 sova 45 min
11.30 sova 2 tim
15.30 sova 20 min
19.00 natt

7-8 months (14,5 hours sleep)

Natt 19-07
8.45 sova 45 min
11.45 sova 1,5 tim
15.40 sova 20 min
19.00 natt

Here are the numberof hours sleep needed for the age...

5-6 month old 15 hours/day
7-8 month old 14,5 hours/day
9-11 month old 14 hours/day
12 moths and the full second year 13,5 hours/day

Is she going to start in daycare? At what age? My only thought I have to my question is that when they do, they really need 12 hour nights.

Many kids go to having 2 naps/day around 7-9 months old and have 2 naps until they turn 12-15 months and then only have 1 nap.

Sit down with a pen and a paper and create a schedule that will fit your family, but the best tip is to at least go to having 3 naps and about 2,5-3 hours awake before nighttime.

Thank you for advise.
The meaning is she will not start at day-care at least before she's 3, if even then.

I should change her schedule (according her age) when we are travelling, would it be better to wait till we return home?

It depends on when you are going to travel? For how long?

If the schedule you have now is working for you, you can keep it until she pass 6 months. But if it is trouble now, why not change it now. It takes 3 days to change and 1 week to follow up and make it stick/work.
