5th night on the cure and some questions in danish?

Inlägg av Visser »

Hello,
I am so happy i finally discovered this possability to get my son to sleep at night. We are progressing well, but we are facing some problems though.

He woke up at 5 on the 5th morning (worst night after implementing the cure -woke up after 4, 2 and 4 hours ) and was very unhappy, unable to calm him with the tools even if they worked fine before. Ín the end I picked him up since nothing else worked -what else could I do even if I know it is strictly forbidden? It turned out his stomach was cramping from hunger and he ate a lot, making his appetite very small all day. I carefully tried to fill him up tonight but he was not that hungry -but I tried to stuff him best I could.
I must admit I have buffed him all 5 nights because he is so difficult to calm down sometimes.
When I put him to bed tonight he was crying his heart out (and mine) even If he managed all right the previous nights. I ended up feeding him since I did not know how else to calm him down and also wanted him so desperately hungry again tomorrow.
What can I do - I have had some long tantrums I could not calm down and ended up picking him up at his calmest.
His is 8½ months old and his schedule looks like this:

19.00 Bed
6.30 Wake up
6.30 feeding
7.30 Breakfast
9.30 - 11.00 Sleep
11.15 Lunch
14.15 Mad
14.30 - 16.00 Sleep
16.45 Dinner
17.30 Finner with the family
18.00-19.00 Bath, feeding, fun

I donth know how to proceede since we do have progress but some tantrums, even if he managed to calm himself down several times the last few nights.

:D I think you should wait a little, take heart and relax. You are not ready yet to give your son the cure the way he should be given it, so read on - you've got the book, I hope? - and think on, and do not hurry. If and when you decide on implementing the cure, you need to know exactly what you are doing and why, in perfect detail. Obviously, you are not there. Consequently, nor can he be.

Questions in Danish, you say? You can turn to the Swedish forum and write in Danish. Or, stick to the English. I just don't understand your heading.

Best to you

Morning hours of the wolfes

Hello Anna

Thank you for your reply -I was a little upset that you think I am not ready, however I know upset means you hit a mark:-) The unconcious mind does not always follow logic -unfortunately.

BUT I can not go back since we do have a big improvement from before!
He does wake up during daynaps, but calmes down himself or with the jingle.
He sleeps through the night -calmes himself down or by a short jingle. He is very upset around 5 in the morning though and impossible to calm down then. I feel like I am in the same boat as Manu...
This morning he was crying for 1 hour with me jingling like crazy, until it was time to wake up and I did the whole thing with light and fun.
But I know he is not meant to cry for so long -but what should I do then, since picking him up is not an option?

I really hope you can help me since I really want to be ready - I can see what an impact it already has on him with his now rosy cheeks.

Thank you so much for sharing your code with me.

Hi Visser,

Having problems with early mornings, are you not the first to have. The child is now sleeping more than ever and thinks that when they wake up at 5 am they are done sleeping. But we as parents know this is not true.

We have different strategies with early mornings but one thing to have in mind is that by running in and out the room using the tools you’ve now been given sends the signal “morning is here” . So in early morning cases “less is more”.

You give the jingle only once (always x4) as an information that the morning is not here yet. Then you do something difficult, YOU LISTEN. How is the sound? Most children get angry, very angry that morning is not here yet. Other get a bit sad but stops shortly. The angry kind can’t be used the tools on as you have experienced. They are too angry and angry you get to be, we can’t forbid our children to have a reaction. So let them react out and calm down or they get sad and you can once again use the jingle to calm down or do the “sun feather”.
Most children if this don’t solve it in a night or two we say “play Mozart”. You say the jingle once (x4) and then you play Mozart LOUD. They need to listen to something else than their own despair. Some have a tendency to get “stuck” as they just SCREAM (not crying this is different and needs to be calmed using the tools you have) then we break this behavior with Mozart. Classical music without singing. You can even use a cheerful Strauss.

Remember to do the laughing before going to bed and then remember to do a happy morning. No feeling sorry for the child, they will pick up on this and start feeling sorry for themselves. Also I would like for you to repeat the chapter “An attitude of Supreme Confidence” starts on page 166. Also repeat the chapter 3. Enjoyment page 83.

Hello again Anna

We are so much in progress. Night be fore last he slept 10.5 hours only with 2 small wakes and he managed to calm himself down immediately. He woke up 5.30 and was cheerfully talking to himself for 30 min before I picked him up at morning time.
Last night though was a lot worse. He woke up at 1 and calmed himself. At 1.30 I had to say the short jingle and then he did not go back to sleep from 03.48 till morning time. He was very angry. So I am happy to hear Mozart migh help us - dying to try it out. Should I just let the cd play till finish and start it again if he is not sleeping by the end?
He is turning 9 months in 4 days and i wonder if schedule should be changed a little? His schedule is from 19 til 6 and 2 hours in the morning and 1.5 in the afternoon and he seems to need them both because he is crying if he wakes up early and I manage to get him off again fairly easy most of the time. From the book it seems he needs 14,15 at 9 months I just do not know where to change it or just let it be untill we are more steady?

Thanks again go helping us out and I will read the sections you recommend again to know more:-))

Hi :D ,

I think you are making progress. Don't look back, just look forward. Regarding the musik, let it play and as he calms down so does the music, if he dosen't neither does the music, if you catch my drift.

If you want to adjust the schedule I would make the first nap 1,5 hours. My son had 2 naps until he was about 15-16 months or so. Just the first morning nap got shorter and the long midday nap (at 12.30) stayed the same. He still sleeps 1.5 hours at this time. So think faaaaar ahead.

Hello Torsmamma (sorry about missing that before)

He slept from 19.30 to 5 wihout a peep -so what a night. Thanks a lot for your support.
Did not have Mozart and th classical I played did not work.
Have to search for it today and hope for better success tomorow.
I will change his schedule in a few days, but he has been in such a fuzzy mood this morning that I will try to let the music help us first.

Thanks again.
