Hi,
Our son was born in the beginning of October 2008, big sister was then 1 year and 9 months old. She has behaved strange now for 4 months and I would need some advise what to do.
Her behaviour is a mixture of a baby in 8-9 month's anxiety and 2.5 year-old's defiance, she does not accept her father to do anything, everything has to be done by mother, her most used word is "no" to everything. She clings to me especially when her father is at home (which is only 1-2 hours a day when she is awake). I've put her into use, she has daily tasks at home; picking up the mail, putting the dish-washer on, she brings me stuff what I need when I change diapers for the baby etc.
We have tried doing as she want (mummy brushes the teeth) and doing the opposite, I don't see any difference in her behaviour.
For a couple of nights now she has started to wake at night crying mummy, first night I entered the room, after that only jingled.
How could I help her? She is nowadays moody, short-tempered, cries easily and so on...
Big sister's behaviour - advice needed

Hi!
Do you read and understand swedish?
Have you read Barnaboken?
Your daughter is in a typical pre defiance age (pherhaps not the best translation). Our son has just passed that phase.
Some guidelines
* Avoid all questions that can be answered by YES or NO (insted of encourage her to put on her shoes or asking her if she would like to put on her shoes - ask her where the shoe is to be)
* Continue involving her in your daily tasks especially those nursing your son. For example - ask her where the napkin is to be (as if you had forgotten). Don't forget to tell her how indispensable her help is.
* Regarding your daughter preferring your assistance, try to be unavailable sometimes. She wants milk from the fridge but only from you - be regretful and pretend your arm is hurting so much you cant even lift it (show her how painful it is). If she wants milk - dad has to help her, cause mummy can't.
* Stick to your normal routines. You are doing right not entering the room at night, just jingle. She is asking you questions: -Is this how it is supposed to be? Am I supposed to sleep? Still? Are you sure?
A step on the way I hope...
I'm sure you will have more answers
