Okat, maybe now we need to rethink our chedule. But usually she sleeps her first nap better than the second one. Maybe it will be better if first nap is 1,5? Or still you advise to have second one 1,5?
When she will need only one nap per day?

Hi
It´s usually not the nap that she doesn´t sleep well on thats the problem, in this case it´s the fact that the first nap is too long, that´s why she doesn´t sleep well on the second.

One nap per day is usually from around 12 months, I started around 12 months with my youngest but not until 16 months with his older brother so it can differ a bit.

Would be schedule like this better:
8 up and bottle
10-10:45 nap
11 meal
13:30-15 nap
15:15 meal
17:30/18 meal
19:45 bottle
20 night

Hi I´m thinking like this:

8 morning and bottle
9 second breakfast ( sandwich in cubes, yoghurt, fruit, porridge etc)
10.30-11,15 nap
12 lunch(real food and some fruit)
14-15.30 nap
15,45 snack(fruit,yoghurt,porridge etc)
18.45 dinner (like lunch)
19.40 Bottle( if she wants it)
20.00 bedtime

it´s not as easy to make a 8-20 scedule woek as a 7-19 but it´s doable if you are prepared for some extra work.

By real work you mean consistency?

Do you know if anywhere is a table where it is shown age and recomended schedule? I think it would help to keep track when napping times should be changed.

Thank you for your help! :)

I don´t think there is in english here, unfortunatly but the you change to one nap (1,5-2 hours) sometime around 12 months, you usually notice like now when it´s time to adjust the scedule. You keep that nap as long as is needed, somewhwere abot 2,5 -3,5 years old. When the child takes long time to fall asleep at night you cut down the nap to 45 min, then you can have the nap some days a week when that doesn´t work any longer and then you take it away completely. Right now my soon 3 year old only nap about two times a week otherwise he takes at least an hour to fall asleep at night.

Hi, Sorry it has taken me so long. Here is the amount of hours needed (I think you can also find them in both books)

• En månadsgammal baby: ca 16,5 tim/dygn.
• Två månader: ca 16 tim/dygn.
• Tre och fyra månader: ca 15,5 tim/dygn.
• Fem och sex månader: ca 15 tim/dygn.
• Sju och åtta månader: ca 14,5 tim/dygn.
• Nio, tio och elva månader: ca 14 tim/dygn.
• Tolv månader och hela andra levnadsåret: ca 13,5 tim/dygn.

1 month: about 16.5 hours/day
2 months: about 16 hours/day
3 and 4 months: about 15.5 hours/day
5 and 6 months: about 15 hours/day
7 and 8 months: about 14.5 hours/day
9, 10 and 11 months: about 14 hours/day
12 months to 24 months: about 13.5 hours/day
2-3 years old: about 13 hours/day
4 - 10 years old: about 12 hours (this one is a bit flexible)

Thanks!
I have to reread GNS.
But I have to say, new schedule works! It took about three days to get it work. Life is great again!
Thank you!

Hi
I'd like a bit of advice. Saara is going to be one soon. Seems that her sleeping pattern changes again. Last two weeks naps aren't the same. It takes too long to fall asleep. There were days, that she didn't sleep first nap at all, she just was in bed and talked by herself. Nap times are from 10:00-10:45 and 13:30-15:00.
Nights are ok. She sleeps from 19:45 to 7:30. Falls asleep in 10 min.

Now three days I have tried to keep the nights the same (and they have been same), but we have only one nap time from 13:00 to 15:00. Problem is that she looks a bit sleepy around 11. Today I let her sleep from 11:00-11:15 and she slept from 13:00-15:00 nicely.
I'm not sure how to organize her naps. Should I make one nap? Should I let her sleep 15 min around 11?
Loori

Hi,
Around 1 year we all do a bit different. I had the play alone time in the morning and my son could take anything from 5 to 20 min nap. If you feel she really needs a morning nap, it should not be more than 20 min. If you choose 1 nap, you need to move it up to about 12.00 and can have it 1,5-2 hours depending on the needs. We usually say second year they need 13,5 hours of sleep. But it differs.

Hi
My girl slept very well more than a month and stuck to her new routine:
night from 20-07 and nap from 12:30-14:30, no additional naps.
Now past three days have been like a madhouse! She whines all day long and I can't get her to sleep her day nap. Night is fine, nothing has changed. When I put her down, at first she talks to herself and flounders in bed. It has been so before too, but now there is no end until when she starts to scream.
I do everything as I did before - she stays in bed + I jingle. Past three days I managed to withstand about an hour or bit more. Then I put on the light and let her to calm down and take her out.
I can see, she is actually sleepy, I can't figure out, what is the problem now.

I know she is not hungry, she is not ill, nothing has changed at home. Any advice?
Loori

Hello,
well first of all, what we always recommend when babies have "a sleep issue" is do do everything just as normal. Any deviation from normal, such as picking up will confuse baby more. Babies will have period when they question sleeping or eating or something else, in the only way they can - since they do not have word yet. Our jobs as parents are to reassure that yes, Im still in charge, I know best, you are safe in my hands, It really is nap time. So stay with your routines.
Dark room, no traffic in her room, no picking up, just jingles or music. Be consistent.

Then, whines all day = is usually a sign of tiredness. And over tiredness by nap time can def make it hard to fall asleep. I think it might be time to introduce that 12 h night. and then have a nap in the middle of the day for at least 1.5 h to give 13.5 h totally.

Did you read GNS yet?
